Description
Flameworked robins are a regular occurrence here at Dragon Art Glass, some years they are made of opaque glass, others of transparent glass. They have varying beads and crystals attached to bling them up. This year the Jingle robin makes its entrance, and each little robin will have either a silver coloured jingle bell, or a gold coloured jingle bell.
Each robin is lovingly handcrafted by myself from Murano made effetre glass rods. I melt the rod in the flame of my oxygen and propane torch, and wrap the molten glass around a stainless steel mandrel, take different colours to decorate and add the red breast, white and eye details. The robin has wings and a tail added, and is then placed in the kiln to anneal and allow the stresses built up during the making to relax. On cooling the mandrel is removed, the robin cleaned and the bell and decorative beads added.
